PSIA is pleased to host Komal Narayan, a young Climate Leader and Activist from Fiji, for an exclusive exchange with PSIA students, chaired by Mélissa Godin, independent journalist and PSIA faculty member.
Komal Narayan was awarded the prestigious Simone Veil Prize in 2022 by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs for her role in Fiji’s fight against climate change, ocean protection, and accelerating advocacy towards climate adaptation. Having participated in many youth-led events (Conference of Youth, UN Climate Action Summit) and two COPS (23 & 25), she will share her expertise in climate change, ocean protection and the role of women, including indigenous women, in the fight to protect the planet.
Ms Narayan is an Executive Member of the youth-led organization - Alliance for Future Generations Fiji and is the Pacific Island Representative for the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA). She is currently working on advancing ocean-specific community-led activities through the SOA Pacific Hub, which she founded in 2020. As an activist, she seeks to raise awareness around what the Pacific is going through, about how the livelihoods of the people are being affected so that others can see the world and the Pacific through the lens of climate justice.
