Hina Rabbani Khar
Hina Rabbani Khar was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in April 2022. She entered public service as a member of the national assembly with the Pakistan Muslim League in 2002 and served as Minister of State for Economic Affairs (2003-2007). After switching parties, she was twice elected with the Pakistan People Party and served first as Minister of State for Finance (2008-2011) and then as Foreign Minister of Pakistan (2011-2013).
Her term as Foreign Minister is best remembered for a ‘Regional Pivot’ to focus on building ties with Pakistan’s immediate neighbours, including the normalization of trade relations with India and a policy of reaching out to all political parties and ethnicities in Afghanistan.
Hina Rabbani Khar holds a BSc in Economics from Lahore University of Management and Sciences and a Masters in Management from University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
