Brad Smith is an expert on the current challenges that new technologies pose to today’s society, and feels that both the tech sector and governments must respond to these challenges.
This event will take place within the framework of an ongoing partnership between Sciences Po and Microsoft in the area of cybersecurity and cyber diplomacy.
Guest Speaker: Brad Smith, Microsoft President and Vice-Chair
As Microsoft’s president and vice chair, Brad Smith leads a team of more than 1,500 professionals located in 54 countries and operating in more than 120 nations. He plays a key role in spearheading the company’s work on critical issues involving the intersection of technology and society, including cybersecurity, privacy, artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, human rights, immigration and philanthropy.
Smith joined Microsoft in 1993, first spending three years in Paris leading the legal and corporate affairs team in Europe. In 2002, he was named Microsoft’s general counsel and spent the following decade leading work to resolve the company’s antitrust controversies with governments around the world and companies across the tech sector.

Professor Cornelia Woll is the president of Sciences Po’s Academic Board (since 2020), and served as Vice President for Studies and Academic Affairs (2015-2018). She founded and co-directed two research units, and has published widely on business-government relations.
