Enrico Letta returns to Italian politics

On March 15, Enrico Letta decided to return to Italian politics in support of Mario Draghi’s unity government, which leads to his departure as Dean of PSIA. He will head the Democratic Party of Italy.

>Having arrived at the head of the Paris School of International Affairs almost six years ago, Enrico Letta has worked to confirm PSIA's place among the world's leading schools of international affairs and to extend its influence and that of Sciences Po, now ranked 2nd in the world for "politics and international studies" in the 2021 QS ranking

Letta’s ability to secure world-renowned professors and leading practitioners to teach at the School helps to ensure that PSIA attracts the best and brightest students from over 100 countries. PSIA has alumni all over the world, in all international organisations and bodies.

PSIA invites the world to the heart of Sciences Po, through its events and conferences with prestigious guests, notably the annual Youth & Leaders Summit which Letta launched in 2016.

This exceptional record as Dean adds on to a brilliant political career in Italy and in Europe. Before joining Sciences Po, Enrico Letta was Italy's Minister for European Affairs, then Minister for Industry and Foreign Trade, Member of the European Parliament and Prime Minister (2013-2014).

Benedicte Durand, Interim Administrator of Sciences Po, commented: “We want to express our gratitude for the immense work he has accomplished, with unfailing commitment and warm enthusiasm. We send him our best wishes in this new chapter of his career, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming him back soon, this time as a guest, to share his experience.”

Mark Maloney, PSIA Executive Director and Vice Dean, will serve as Acting Dean of PSIA in the interim period.
