CARE Students Lead the Way in First Climate Policy Case Competition
On Friday 15 November, the first CARE Sustainability in a Changing Climate Case Competition brought together talented graduate students from the program’s four partner institutions—Sciences Po, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, and University of Guelph. Organized virtually by the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, the event provided an opportunity for participants to tackle one of today’s most pressing challenges: Germany’s energy transition.
Over 10 days, teams of students worked intensively, guided by expert coaches, to craft innovative and comprehensive policy solutions. Representing Sciences Po, students from the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) demonstrated remarkable expertise and leadership throughout the competition.
The final round saw a Sciences Po team oppose a mixed Sciences Po - University of Toronto team. This dynamic collaboration between Sciences Po and the University of Toronto ultimately won the Case Competition, showcasing the strength of the CARE program’s collaborative approach. The team’s innovative solution earned them the €500 prize and the opportunity to publish their work on the CARE and Munk School websites.
The distinguished panel of judges from academia, government, and industry praised the exceptional quality of work presented by all student participants, noting the depth of analysis, creativity, and professionalism displayed in their solutions.
This milestone event highlighted CARE and Sciences Po’s pivotal role in fostering future global leaders equipped to address climate challenges. We extend our congratulations to all participants, with special recognition for the exceptional performance of PSIA students. Their success reflects the commitment of CARE and Sciences Po to shaping a sustainable future through education, collaboration, and empowerment.
This initiative was generously supported by the Fondation DRG, which fosters cross-cultural exchange between Canada and France.
