Interview with Thibaut Jaulin, Academic Advisor for the Dual Master in Technology and Global Affairs

Tell us about your role as an academic advisor for the Dual Degree?

The Dual Degree in Technology and Global Affairs has just been launched. Right now, I am working with Ignasi Gardans, the program’s Scientific Advisor, on the academic offer. We already have a fantastic group of globally-mobile professors who are creating innovative syllabi. We look forward to sharing these details soon. As for all PSIA programs, the list of courses will appear on the Master-specific webpage.

Next Fall, I will welcome the very first cohort of students on the Dual Degree and serve as their academic advisor.  At PSIA we care a lot about offering the best conditions for a successful learning experience. I will meet regularly with the students and guide them on their academic journey, from enrolling in courses, to following their academic performance during their year in Paris, and helping them to start preparing for the transition to the job market!

What are the career perspectives of this program?

The needs for highly educated young professionals proficient in both tech and policy are growing in the public and in the private sectors. A wide range of job opportunities already exist in business, advocacy, policy regulation or cybersecurity. Several PSIA graduates are already working as AI or Policy analysts at the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation or as data managers in the humanitarian sector.

At Sciences Po, we offer comprehensive career support, including a dedicated service in the form of Sciences Po Carrières and a dedicated Career Manager at PSIA. There are also many opportunities and activities: fairs, meetings with alumni, an abundant job board, etc. In addition, students enrolled in the Dual Degree will benefit from career support, guidance and networks at both Sciences Po-PSIA and IE-SPEGA!

We are very proud that over 80% of Sciences Po graduates find a job within 6 months of graduating, which gives us every confidence in our capacity to support students enrolled in the Dual Degree to successfully transition to the job market.

What advice would you give to students interested in applying?

First of all, let me say that I’d be very happy to exchange with prospective students, who shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to me. I also invite them to attend the next webinar dedicated to the Master on 8 February 2024. As advice, I invite students to carefully craft their motivation letter. This is a very important part of the application. We are looking for outstanding students who are ready to navigate between Technology and Global Affairs and who can demonstrate clearly in their motivation letter that they understand the challenges and have the ambition to tackle them. And please, even though this is a program on Technology, avoid using any AI-generated tool to write your motivation letter! Please, read carefully the application instructions and requirements on Sciences Po’s Admissions website and don’t miss the application deadline!
