What skills/strategy helped you to succeed at PSIA?
The abilities that enabled my success at PSIA were curiosity, motivation, and balance. My curiosity drove me to explore human rights topics beyond the curriculum, and my eagerness to ask questions enriched my understanding. This was fueled by a persistent motivation stemming from a genuine dedication to social justice and human rights advocacy. Additionally, maintaining a balanced approach allowed me to invest time and energy into extracurricular activities—such as volunteering with NGOs and attending conferences—where I could learn from diverse perspectives and apply my classroom knowledge in practical settings.
What part of your PSIA experience do you think will be of greatest help in your career?
One significant aspect of my PSIA experience that will greatly benefit my career is the school's esteemed reputation. Sciences Po, and PSIA in particular, is renowned for producing graduates who are highly sought after by NGOs, IGOs, national governments, and other potential employers. Before graduating, I had already secured a job offer from an IGO in the Americas, where I interned during the summer between my first and second year of the master's program. While my performance during the internship was crucial in receiving the offer, I believe it was PSIA's prestigious reputation that initially set my internship application apart from other candidates.
What advice would you give to current and future PSIA students?
My advice to current and future PSIA students is to identify a social or political cause that deeply resonates with you and let it be your driving force. This passion will continuously remind you of why you are pursuing your master's degree and guide your career decisions. Moreover, having a genuine commitment to human rights, international development, international security, environmental issues, or any other area of specialization will significantly contribute to creating a more peaceful and just world.
