On March 22, 2019, the Chair co-organized the “Legal Challenges of the Data Economy” conference which took place at the Collège des Bernardins.
From the recent implementation of the GDPR to the intensification of European and American investigations of anti-competitive behaviors by the largest data platforms, the challenges raised by the “Data Economy” are brought to the fore. The conference “Legal Challenges of the Data Economy” explored the role of algorithms in governing society, the ethical issues they raise, the personalization in markets and in the law, consumers’ data privacy and security, competition and antitrust policy, ownership of data and more.
The Chair co–organized this event together with the Coase-Sandor Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Chicago, the Collège des Bernardins, Institut Montaigne and the Cercle Montesquieu.
