Abstract

From self-image control to closing off: a study of the grammar of refugees’ attitudes during biographical interviews. This article examines the interviewer-interviewee relationship in qualitative research with beneficiaries of international protection schemes. It examines how the use of biographical interviews produced forms of docility and resistance on the part of interviewees. We explore how they share their experience, and we discuss the (im)possibility of refusing the encounter with the researcher, and hence the injunction to tell their story.
