Reimbursement of Medical Costs
Students registrered with the general French system
If you have a provisional certificate of affiliation to the French social security system, you will need to pay your medical costs upfront and then request a reimbursement by sending your “feuille de soins” form to the address of the CPAM listed on your certificate.
To ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement, declare your médecin traitant (GP) during your first appointment, make sure he is conventionné secteur 1 and follow the steps required by the parcours de soins coordonné.
As soon as you receive your official certificate of affiliation and social security number, you can create an online account on the website https://assure.ameli.fr/, which will allow you to track your reimbursements, manage procedures online, download certificates and order your Carte Vitale health insurance card.
Students possessing a European Health Insurance card
If you are a holder of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you must call the CPAM at 3646, request the international relations department (service des relations internationales) and make an appointment to have your medical costs reimbursed. You will need to present a valid form of ID, your student certificate and your bank account details (RIB).
You can also make your reimbursement request through the healthcare system in your own country.
