Henri Sourdais
research project
My thesis examines pornographic cinema in France from the 1890s to the 1960s. The aim of this research is to understand how pornographic cinema was able to develop in France at the beginning of the twentieth century even though it was illegal and hardly clandestine. This means getting away from the idea of a secret production and studying the material conditions that make it possible to publicize pornography.
