ACCESSUP - Policies of access to higher education

Research Team:

Agnès van ZANTEN (OSC et LIEPP)

Denis FOUGERE (OSC et LIEPP)

Description of the project :

The ACCESSUP project aims to study policies of access to higher education from a perspective encompassing their design, implementation and effects. This is rarely done in research. Generally, the research is concerned with the only one of these processes. From an intersectional approach that combines the theoretical and methodological approaches of economics and sociology, the research will first focus on the construction and articulation of these policies at the national level starting in the year 2000. It will examine the objectives of these policies and their links with the interests, aims, representations and resources of the various actors involved. It will also examine how national guidelines are reinterpreted, implemented and complemented by other initiatives at the regional level of Ile de France (IDF), by studying the perspectives and practices of political and educational authorities as well as the logics at work in educational institutions. Finally, the project will also analyze the effects of this policy through available 2014 data on the orientation wishes of upper secondary school students in IDF.
