Emanuele Ferragina a rejoint depuis le 1er janvier 2015 les rangs des chercheurs permanents de l'Observatoire Sociologique du Changement. Il est également membre du LIEPP de Sciences Po (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire d'Évaluation des Politiques Publiques) et associé au Department of Social Policy and Intervention de l'Université d'Oxford.
C'est à l'Université d'Oxford qu'Emanuele Ferragina a soutenu sa thèse en 2011 et exercé plusieurs années avant de rejoindre l'OSC.
Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages reconnus en Italie (La maggioranza Invisibile (2014), Chi Troppo, Chi Niente (2013)) et a participé à plusieurs débats de société dans les médias (liens vers les vidéos des interventions).
Les recherches menées par Emanuele Ferragina se situent au croisement entre étude des structures sociales et préoccupations de la vie quotidienne. Elles concernent 2 thèmes majeurs :
