PAKISTAN
Pakistan will vote next month, after a very eventful year during which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been forced to resign and has even been declared ineligible by the Supreme Court because of corruption charges. In fact, his party, the PML(N), has been decapitated, several ministers being disqualified by the judges for the same reason. In this workshop Prof. Mohammad Waseem (LUMS) will analyse the role of the judiciary and the army in the Pakistan’s democracy and Asma Faiz (LUMS) will scrutinize the rise of Imran Khan, including the implications of a possible victory of his party, the PT.
