Résumé
This seminar provides an overview of a forthcoming book about the ways in which disaster-affected communities in Central Philippines perform their misery to secure political gains. It argues that democratic politics can take root in contexts of widespread suffering and dispossession. Despite the limitations on economic resources and psychological distress among disaster survivors, the book is a testament to both the resilience and fragility of the democratic project when faced with existential threats.
La séance a lieu le lundi 20 mai à 17h, en salle Jean Monnet, CERI (56 rue Jacob, 75006 Paris)
