Bio :

Professor Alvarez holds a PhD in International Relations (National University of Rosario, Argentina, UNR), a Master’s degree in Integration and International Cooperation (UNR Argentina and K.U.Leuven University, Belgium), and a postgraduate degree in EU Law and European Economic Studies (Paris I Panthéon – Sorbonne, France). She is Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations (DPScIR) – UNR, where she teaches both postgraduate (Theories of European integration) and graduate courses (International Organizations and Theories of International Relations). She has been successfully renewing the graduate curriculum offered by the DPScIR by organizing and delivering the first (and only) course on European integration in the history of the Department. The course has actively contributed to the involvement of students that would not normally specialize in European matters and has led to the creation of the Study Group on the European Union (SGEU). Dr. Alvarez is the founder and present coordinator of the SGEU.

Professor Alvarez has recently been awarded a grant for a Jean Monnet Project as part of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. 

Her research areas of interest include European integration theory, European Union politics and institutions, Euroscepticism, Legislative behaviour, particularly in the European Parliament, EU relations with Latin America, MERCOSUR politics and institutions, Comparative Regionalism.
