Toshi ARIMURA

Professor for School of Political Science and Economics and the director of the Research Institute for Environment Economics and Management at Waseda University, Japan

Bio :

Toshi H. Arimura is a professor for School of Political Science and Economics and the director of the Research Institute for Environment Economics and Management at Waseda University, Japan. He is also a faculty fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry. Prior to his current position, he was a professor at Sophia University in Tokyo. His research focuses on climate change, air pollution and energy policies. He is a coauthor of An Evaluation of Japanese Environmental Regulation: A Quantitative Approach from Environmental Economics (Springer 2015), and a coeditor of “Carbon Pricing in Japan”(Spirnger 2021), which recived the commentary award from Society of Environmental Economics and Policy Studies (SEEPS). As an Abe Fellow, he vistied Resources for the Future and George Mason University from 2006 to 2008. Professor Arimura holds his Ph.D. in economics from University of Minnesota, an MSc in environmental sciences from University of Tsukuba, and a B.A. in history of science from University of Tokyo. He has served on a number of Japanese government committees on environmental issues and on editorial boards of academic journals such as Review of Environmental Economics and Policy or Environmental Economics and Policy Studies. He is serving as a president of SEEPS from April 2022. He was awarded the Academic Awards from SEEPS and from Ichimura Foundation for New Techonology.
