The European Consortium for Sociological Research organizes yearly a competition to nominate the "Dissertation of the year", "the best theoretically based empirical study in sociology". 

In 2015, Mathieu Ichou, OSC' PhD is the cowinner, with Valentina Di Stasio ("Why education matters to employers. A vignette study in Italy, England and the Netherlands").

Mathieu Ichou defended his thesis "The origins of academic inequalities: a contribution to the study of the academic trajectories of children of immigrants in France and England" in December 2014. The jury rewarded his dissertation with "Mention très honorable avec félicitations du jury", the best award in Sciences Po. [Abstract in French]

Mathieu Ichou won the Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow, in Nuffield College - Oxford University.

He's now research fellow in the INED (French Institute for Demographic Studies).

The ECSR associates more than 80 leading European research centers dealing with theoretically-driven empirical research in sociology.
